KJV Bible Verses for Forgiveness
Unforgiveness — given or withheld — is a weight Jesus never asked you to carry. Below are verified King James Version verses, God's promises of cleansing and grace, and a prayer for the heart ready to let go.
1. Scripture — Verified KJV
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
— 1 John 1:9 (KJV)
"And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."
— Ephesians 4:32 (KJV)
"For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."
— Matthew 6:14–15 (KJV)
"As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us."
— Psalm 103:12 (KJV)
"Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye."
— Colossians 3:13 (KJV)
"Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."
— Isaiah 1:18 (KJV)
"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."
— Romans 8:1 (KJV)
"He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea."
— Micah 7:19 (KJV)
2. God's Promise
- Confessed sin is forgiven sin — He is faithful and just to cleanse you (1 John 1:9).
- Your sins are removed as far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103:12).
- There is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1).
- He casts your sins into the depths of the sea — He does not go fishing for them again (Micah 7:19).
3. Personalized Prayer
Father, I bring You the sin I have carried and the wound someone else carved into me. Wash me clean by the blood of Jesus and give me grace to release the person I have refused to forgive. I cannot do this in my own strength — do it through me. Set me free, in Jesus' name, amen.
4. Your Next Faithful Step
Name the specific thing — either the sin you need to confess or the person you need to forgive. Write it down, then write across it: 'Covered by the blood of Jesus.' Tear it up, throw it away, and refuse to carry it again.
5. Accountability
If your sin involves another person, take James 5:16 seriously and confess it to one trusted believer this week. If you are forgiving someone, tell that same believer so they can pray when bitterness tries to creep back in.
6. Encouragement & Hope
The cross is not a suggestion — it is a finished work. The same blood that covers the worst sinner covers yours. Forgiven people forgive people; you are not stuck.
7. Trust
Trust that God's verdict over you in Christ is louder than your memory of what you have done — or what was done to you. Romans 8:1 means no condemnation, not less condemnation.
8. Transformation
A heart set free by forgiveness becomes a heart that frees others. The very mercy you receive is the mercy God uses through you to break chains in someone else's life (Ephesians 4:32).
